Luis Díaz Bids Emotional Farewell to Liverpool – Shares Special Message with Young Fan
Seven-year-old Isaac Kearney from Kirkby has captured the hearts of Liverpool supporters – and now, even departing star Luis Díaz. The Colombian forward, affectionately known as Lucho, sent Isaac a touching message after completing his £65.5 million move from Liverpool FC to Bayern Munich.
Isaac, who became well-known among Reds fans for his infectious passion, took to Instagram to wish Díaz well:
“Good luck, Lucho. Thanks for the boss memories.”
Alongside his post, a photo resurfaced of the moment Isaac met Díaz in the players’ tunnel while serving as a mascot last season. Fans were also reminded of the sweet footage of Isaac and his sister Florence singing Díaz’s Liverpool chant with pride.
Díaz’s Farewell to the Reds
Díaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 and quickly became a fan favourite, dazzling supporters with his speed, skill, and relentless energy. Over his three-and-a-half years at Anfield, he played a major role in delivering four trophies and countless unforgettable moments.
In his emotional farewell, Díaz wrote:
“Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever. I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.
I have met incredible people, fabulous colleagues, coaches who helped me a lot, and extraordinary fans. Liverpool is a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart.
It’s good to be leaving with the feeling of a duty fulfilled, and, most of all, to be leaving a champion. One of the hardest parts is leaving after we lost one of ours in such a tragic way. Diogo — I will never forget you. We will never forget you. Thank you for everything.”
A Career of Highs and Resilience
Díaz’s Liverpool journey started in spectacular fashion. In his debut half-season, he scored six goals and provided four assists in 26 matches, starting in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals — both of which Liverpool won on penalties against Chelsea. He also played in the Champions League final and was instrumental in pushing Manchester City to the wire in the Premier League race.
The following season, a serious knee injury sidelined him for months, testing his resilience. But Díaz fought back, returning stronger with Liverpool’s iconic No. 7 shirt on his back. Over the next two campaigns, he amassed 101 appearances, scoring 30 goals and assisting 10 more.
The 2024-25 season saw him evolve into a more central attacking role under Arne Slot, delivering his most prolific scoring run yet and helping Liverpool secure the Premier League title with four games to spare.
A Heartfelt Message to Isaac
When Isaac posted his farewell message, Díaz replied warmly:
“Thank you, Isaac, for all your support! I will keep it in my heart!”
Isaac shared the comment on his Instagram story, alongside a crying emoji and a red heart a gesture that touched fans across social media.
Messages of support for Díaz quickly poured in:
“Top man, very best of luck to you.”
“You’ll be missed massively, Lucho. Once a Kopite, always a Kopite.”
Díaz may now wear the colours of Bayern Munich, but for Isaac — and Liverpool fans everywhere — his time at Anfield will always be remembered with admiration and affection.
