A Positive ENT Update for Isaac – From the Kearney Family

Young Isaac is the number one Liverpool fan and his family has shared an update on the latest news from Isaac’s ENT follow-up appointment.

From the Kearney’s own lips, “We sat down with Isaac’s surgeon, and they were chuffed to bits with how he’s doing after surgery.” You may recall that Isaac had an op to sort out some hearing issues that had been bothering him.

Going back to the consultation, the surgeon had a bit of an interesting tidbit to share. Apparently, “When Isaac was on the operating table for his surgery, it turned out he’s got a submucous cleft palate – which basically means his palate didn’t really form properly” said the Kearneys.

Now, the family explains that this condition had been a complete surprise up until now and actually hasn’t caused him too many problems…yet. “To be honest, this hasn’t become a major issue for him (that we are aware of) and wasn’t anything we’d known about until now,” the Kearneys said.

What the doctors have advised is that they are keeping a close eye on it, but there’s no rush to do anything right now.

Grommets Showing Positive Results

But its not all doom and gloom – the family has some really positive news to share on the ear surgery front. “On a more upbeat note, it seems the grommets are actually working,” the Kearneys said.

A recent hearing test showed that there’s been a marked improvement in Isaac’s hearing as a result. “They ran him through a hearing test and he’s actually hearing a lot more,” they added.

Hearing Aids Not Something He’ll Need For Now

And the good news just keeps on coming – the improved hearing means that Isaac won’t need to use hearing aids for now. “So no hearing aids for him for the time being,” the family shared.

Huge News for a Big Liverpool Fan

The news is especially good for Isaac, who the family says is the biggest Liverpool fan you’ll ever meet. Because of the improved hearing, he should be able to get a lot more out of match days – the chanting, the celebrations – the whole shebang.

For the Kearney family, all in all its been a bit of a mixed bag – some new information to take on board, but also some really welcome reassurance. The focus now is on keeping a close eye on the newly discovered condition, and also on Isaac continuing to heal and get his hearing back to normal.
