LFC releases new match day incident reporting tool

Liverpool FC has unveiled a new incident reporting system designed to enhance support for fans on match days at Anfield.

The club’s foremost priority is the safety and well-being of all those attending the stadium, and this new intuitive tool allows fans to anonymously report any concerns related to antisocial behavior, discriminatory chants, harassment, or suspicious activities.

This system will be available starting with this weekend’s fixture against West Ham United, which coincides with the 36th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy. This will be a moment to remember the 97 fans who tragically lost their lives during the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989.

The match will also serve as a platform to promote the Premier League’s No Room For Racism initiative. The goal of this new reporting tool is to streamline the response time to incidents and foster clearer, more efficient communication between supporters and the club’s response team.

The service integrates with text messaging and WhatsApp, allowing fans to report issues, share images or videos, and provide the location of any problems. This enables the stadium’s stewards to quickly assess the situation and take necessary action if required.

Fans can easily access the system by scanning a QR code or texting the mobile number (+44 (0) 7701 411048) displayed around the stadium. Once the QR code is scanned, it opens a WhatsApp chat, allowing fans to communicate directly and confidentially.

To protect privacy, the system encrypts the supporter’s mobile number, ensuring all communications remain private. It will be active and monitored from three hours before kick-off until one hour after the final whistle. Messages sent outside of these hours will receive an automatic reply directing fans to contact Supporter Services for assistance.

Each report will be handled with appropriate care, and depending on the findings, the club may work in partnership with Merseyside Police when necessary.

This new initiative aligns with Liverpool FC’s Red Together programme, which underscores the club’s ongoing commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. The system aims to enhance the safety and security of fans at Anfield, ensuring it continues to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for all supporters.
