Mo Salah Makes History with Golden Boot and Playmaker Wins

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has made history by clinching both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

The Golden Boot is given to the player who scores the most goals in a Premier League campaign. Salah secured his 29th goal in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, finishing the season with a clear lead — six goals ahead of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

This marks the fourth different season in which Salah has finished as the league’s top scorer, tying the record previously set by Arsenal great Thierry Henry. Beyond this, Salah has become the first player ever to win the Golden Boot, Playmaker, and EA SPORTS Player of the Season awards all in the same season.

On Saturday, Salah was also named the EA SPORTS Player of the Season, making him only the fifth player in Premier League history to earn this honor twice, joining the ranks of Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, and Kevin De Bruyne.

In addition, with his goal on the final day, Salah matched the Premier League record for the most combined goals and assists in a single season. He reached 47 goal involvements, equaling the marks set by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole in the mid-1990s, both of whom achieved their totals in 42-match seasons.
