The Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 11 points with their first league win at Etihad Stadium in almost ten years.

Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal after 14 minutes and later assisted Dominik Szoboszlai to double the lead before halftime, ensuring the three points for the visitors.

After the match, Robertson, speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, expressed the most pride in keeping the defending champions from scoring.

According to Robertson , “First off, winning against City both at home and away is always a challenge. Since Mo and I joined the team about seven or eight years ago, we’ve only managed to win here in the Champions League, so it’s clear that this is a tough place to play, and they consistently make it hard for us.

“When you see their lineup, you know they’re ready to attack and play offensively – and that’s exactly what their formation indicated. But we also knew this would create opportunities for us at the other end.

“As a team, we defended excellently – it wasn’t just the defense or Alisson, but everyone on the pitch put in a solid effort. The wingers worked tirelessly, and Curtis and Dom at the front pressed with intensity. I believe we restricted a strong team to very few chances, if any clear ones at all.

“What stood out the most was keeping a clean sheet. We know with the talent in our squad, we can score goals. That clean sheet was crucial, and we’re all thrilled with it.”

The left-back went on to say, “At half-time, we were 2-0 up, and we knew they’d come at us with everything they had. City at home will never just give up without a fight.

“But honestly, I don’t recall them having a clear opportunity in the second half, which was really satisfying from our perspective.

“Of course, we could have been better with the ball, but with a 2-0 lead, the focus was on maintaining that clean sheet. The lads worked incredibly hard and gave so much energy to protect it, and maybe that left us a bit tired on the ball towards the end.”
