Anfield Miracles: LFC Fan Recounts How He Found a Love, Turned Wife Queuing Outside the Kop
Liverpool’s celebration to mark the 6000th match play featured fans telling their story as they matter to Liverpool and football, and the outcome is so far massive and entertaining. Many confessed finding love, peace, joy, work partners, and lifetime friends in the field of Anfield.
One of those that captured our interest was that from Derek Ralphs. He shared his story of meeting the love of his life, Karen, in 1990 while standing outside waiting for the queue to watch the Liverpool match against Chelsea Football Club. The duo met in 1990, and in 3 years time, they got married and are living their happy life now. Many thanks to Liverpool for helping them meet.
Derek Ralphs wrote
“On the 27th of October 1990. Standing outside the Kop waiting to go inside to watch us against Chelsea, and in that queue was a lady called Karen, now my wife; we married in 1993. We have a brick opposite the eternal flame to commemorate that first meeting date”
Derek did not only meet a wife; he also added that he met a lifetime friend, Peter Murphy, many thanks to LFC.
“That same year I met Peter Murphy on the Kop. We still stand next to each other on the Kop and are great friends. Thank you, Anfield; thank you, LFC”
