Share

In a thrilling display of dominance, Slot’s men demolished Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, securing Liverpool’s 20th top-flight championship and sparking unforgettable celebrations as the final whistle blew. Goals from Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and an own goal from Destiny Udogie propelled the Reds to a commanding 82 points, an insurmountable lead with four games still to play this season.

With this monumental victory, Slot made history, becoming only the fifth manager in Premier League history to win the title in their debut season. A remarkable achievement that will be remembered for years to come.

“The only moment I felt truly emotional today was when we arrived at the stadium” says Slot.

Walking into the heart of Anfield, the energy from the fans was overwhelming. You could feel what this moment meant to them — to all of us. For a split second, it hit me how close we were to making this dream a reality. The opportunity to win the Premier League felt so special, but it also immediately reminded me: we still have to do it. However, as we made our way to the pitch, there was this undeniable feeling among everyone on the bus: if the fans are with us — as they always are — it’s impossible for us to lose today. The way the fans supported us, before, during, and after the match, was nothing short of incredible. And seeing our players rise to the occasion made it even more special. To be a part of this moment, to feel the electricity in the air, was truly something I’ll never forget.

On the Joy of Becoming Premier League Champions…

I’m incredibly happy, of course, but honestly, it still feels a bit unreal. You work so hard for this moment, day in and day out, and when it finally comes, it takes a little while for it to truly sink in. But when you see the joy and excitement on the fans’ faces, it doesn’t take long to understand what we’ve accomplished together this season. The passion they showed was contagious, and it made everything feel so real, so meaningful.

On Joining Liverpool’s Storied History…

Being part of this club’s history is something I’ll never take for granted. The day I was appointed as head coach of Liverpool was already an incredible honor. To be entrusted with leading such a prestigious club is a moment of immense pride. But now, to add my name to the history books as a Premier League champion, it’s something I could only have dreamt of a few years ago. When I first arrived here, I had no idea what the future held, but I always believed in the vision and potential of this team. I remember my first visit to Anfield — Pep Lijnders invited me to a game against Tottenham, I believe we won 4-0 that day. Little did I know that this would be the same opponent we’d clinch the title against. And it’s funny how things come full circle. Back then, I was with my sporting director from my time at Cambuur Leeuwarden, and we watched players like Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Joe [Gomez] in an U21 match. Fast forward to today, and to win the Premier League against Tottenham — it’s a special story, one that I’ll cherish forever.

Every chapter of my journey here has been unforgettable, but today is a dream realized. The history we’ve made is a collective one — a triumph for the players, the staff, and most importantly, the fans who’ve made this all possible. And I’m incredibly proud to be part of this incredible journey.
