Isaac Kearney’s Mum Calls Out ‘Scammers’ Exploiting Her Son’s Story

Isaac Kearney’s Mum Slams ‘Scammers’ Exploiting Her Son’s Story
Melissa Kearney has hit out at individuals she claims are exploiting her son Isaac’s inspiring journey for financial gain, calling their actions ‘shocking.’
Isaac, a six-year-old from Kirkby, was born with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes developmental delays. His parents, Melissa and Alan, have used social media to share their son’s daily experiences, offering a window into the challenges Isaac faces.
However, Melissa is now calling attention to a growing number of unauthorized fan pages that, she says, are using Isaac’s story to make money. While she admits that some unofficial pages have been supportive, she’s deeply concerned by those taking advantage of Isaac’s situation for profit.
One such page, which boasts a following of 155,000, recently published a post promoting an e-book about Isaac’s story. The post urged followers to pay $9.99 for a special launch offer, which it claimed would later be sold for $18.99. The page assured supporters that “every purchase supports Isaac’s story and future” — a statement Melissa has categorically rejected.
Although the post was removed shortly after, Melissa is now calling for the entire page to be taken down. She has reported it to Facebook multiple times and is urging others to do the same.
In an interview with Liverpool ECHO, Melissa expressed her frustration: “It’s heartbreaking. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now, but I didn’t want to draw attention to it on Isaac’s social media. I didn’t want to give them any more visibility. But at this point, we’ve been left with no choice but to speak out.
“My husband Alan and I don’t mind fan pages that share our content – it helps raise awareness and lets us connect with more people. But when they start asking for money and essentially scamming people, that’s where we draw the line. Something needs to be done.”
Melissa’s call for action serves as a reminder that, while many fan pages can be a source of support, there’s always the potential for misuse, and the Kearney family is determined to protect Isaac’s story from exploitation.
