LFC’s Surprise for Superfan Sally Garster, a 16-year-old with cerebral pals. In a heartfelt gesture that showcases Liverpool FC’s dedication to its diverse fanbase, the club also surprised superfan Sally Garster at the St Helens Stadium, home of Liverpool FC Women. The club celebrated him with a special private tour. But there was an exciting surprise in store for Sally, adding an extra layer of magic to the experience.
This memorable visit took place ahead of the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), a day dedicated to promoting awareness and the rights of persons with disabilities. The day was a thank you to Sally for her unwavering support of the Reds.
Sally, along with her dad Dave, received a warm welcome from LFC Women defender Gemma Bonner, who served as their personal guide, taking them behind the scenes of the stadium. The day also featured a dream come true for Sally – meeting her favorite player, Ceri Holland, and goalkeeper Rachael Laws during a truly unforgettable afternoon.

Sally also revealed that her mum also uses a wheelchair like her.
The IDPD, celebrated every year on December 3, shines a spotlight on the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in every part of life, and for Sally, this day held special significance.
As a 16-year-old with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair, football is more than just a sport for Sally – it’s her life.
“There’s no feeling in the world that compares to being at a football game,” Sally shared.
“It’s probably one of the most important things in my life. There’s no connection or community feeling like Liverpool’s. We’re just the best club, and I wouldn’t give up Liverpool for anything.”
Sally’s dedication to Liverpool FC is unmatched. As a proud member of the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association, she regularly attends both men’s and women’s matches with her family. In addition, she plays wheelchair football every week with the LFC Foundation, staying connected to her passion for the game in every way possible.
This celebration of IDPD and the diversity within LFC’s fanbase aligns with the club’s ongoing commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion through Red Together, an initiative that ensures these values are embedded into every aspect of Liverpool FC’s culture.
