Luis Díaz Bids Farewell to Liverpool, Joins Bayern Munich After Glittering Anfield Spell

Luis Díaz has officially completed a move to Bayern Munich, bringing an end to a memorable chapter at Liverpool that spanned over three-and-a-half years. The Colombian forward leaves Anfield with his head held high, having played a key part in a successful era for the Reds, which included four major trophies and countless standout moments.
He Wrote:
Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever. I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.
I have met incredible people, fabulous colleagues, coaches who helped me a lot, and extraordinary fans. Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart. The cycle ends here, and it is so gratifying to look back and realize how happy we were.
Not only because of the trophies we won, but for the union and friendship that made it all possible.
There were ups and downs, as there always are, but there was always truth. As it should be in a family. It’s good to be leaving with the feeling of a duty fulfilled, and, most of all, to be leaving a champion. It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way.
As I said, and I repeat, I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him. We will never forget him.
Thank you for everything
Díaz arrived from FC Porto in January 2022 and wasted no time making an impression. With his explosive pace, dazzling footwork, and ability to create and score from anywhere in the attack, he quickly won over Liverpool fans and became a regular fixture in Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI.
In his first half-season, Díaz slotted in seamlessly. He scored six goals and registered four assists in 26 appearances, playing a vital role in the club’s pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple. He started both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals, helping Liverpool lift both trophies after dramatic penalty shootouts against Chelsea. He also featured in the Champions League final in Paris, where the Reds narrowly lost to Real Madrid, and was instrumental as they pushed Manchester City all the way in a tense Premier League title race.
However, the following season brought a tough setback. A serious knee injury early in the 2022-23 campaign kept him sidelined for months, limiting his appearances to just 21 games that year. Despite the frustration, Díaz remained determined and resilient.
When he returned, he did so with a new number on his back — taking the iconic No. 7 shirt — and a clear mission to reestablish himself. Over the next two seasons, Díaz racked up 101 appearances, netted 30 goals, and provided 10 assists. His versatility allowed him to thrive under both Klopp and new head coach Arne Slot, who began to deploy him more centrally in the front three during the 2024-25 season.
The tactical shift paid off handsomely. Díaz enjoyed his most prolific campaign in a Liverpool shirt, leading the line with energy, flair, and clinical finishing. His contributions were key as Liverpool stormed to another Premier League title — this time with four games to spare.
Now, Díaz embarks on a fresh challenge with German giants Bayern Munich. His departure marks the end of an exciting era, but he leaves behind a legacy of passion, flair, and unforgettable moments that will forever be cherished by Liverpool supporters.
From his very first touch at Anfield to his final goal in red, Luis Díaz gave it his all. Bayern are gaining not just a top-class talent but a player who plays with heart and joy — the same spirit that made him a Kop favorite.
